Corporate Compliance Training: Confidentiality
This module on Confidentiality Practices was part of a larger compliance curriculum for an international consulting firm. The training modules used real-life situations and engaging graphics to promote understanding of complex confidentiality policies.
Challenge: Create an engaging training experience for a very mobile workforce that would be brief, informative, and promote critical thinking and application of complex policies.
Process: Working with company stakeholders and SMEs, I identified key roles and policies in order to create storylines that addressed common scenarios and areas of struggle/misunderstanding. This company had very specific policies so understanding those nuances and how they impacted employee decision making was critical. The company is also multinational and large. It was important to understand the complexity of the employee audience in order to design an experience that resonated with all.
Design: Employees engaged in a series of scenarios presented through a simple graphic-novel format. Designed as a branching activity, decisions led to various outcomes, all rooted in risks and rewards that were specific to the firm. Scenes, cities, and dialogue were designed to reflect the company offices and culture. Hints and supports were provided throughout and reinforced the roles and resources an employee should confer with in any given scenario, thus reinforcing company policies and procedures.
Outcome: Training completion was higher with this series of trainings than with previous versions. Employees responded well to the creative engagement, relevancy, and brevity of the modules.
My Role: My role on this project was integral and comprehensive, including:
